Go and Make Disciples of All Nations

August 27, 2020 | Categories: Blog, In the News

This is the third and final installment of our exploration of The Bucket Ministry’s engagement model: “Pray, Give, Go.” The first two blogs are linked in the bottom of this post. We would encourage you to read these blogs to learn about these three essential parts of our ministry.

The final portion of the engagement model is “Go.”

Matthew 28:19-20: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

In Matthew 28, Jesus commands His followers to make disciples of all nations. He explicitly says we should go into the world. For some, this task may seem unattainable or daunting, but God makes provisions for this and leads us through these uncertainties.

Jeremiah 1:7-8: “But the Lord said to me, ‘Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,’ declares the Lord.”

Many of us can think of excuses to prevent us from sharing the word of God, but God says these excuses mean nothing. He has given us the strength and ability to go to all people in all situations. We can be confident when going because of this.

For those who view this challenge as unattainable in your current situation, recognize that these verses do not say you must go to Africa, South America or Asia. “All nations” means all nations, including your own. People are traveling all over the world to those who may have never heard the name of Jesus, but there are many like that in our own communities. If you do not have the physical or financial abilities to travel far, focus on those around you. Go to those in your community, your workplace, and even your family.

For those who have the physical and financial means, you may feel uncertain about the idea of traveling to a foreign country that may be unfamiliar to you, or maybe, you have never shared your faith in a public way. Maybe, you are unsure about the language barrier that may be presented to you.

These are feelings that many first-time missionaries are concerned about before they work in the field. The Bucket Ministry is a group of ordinary people doing extraordinary things through the power of God. That can include you! Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

Romans 10:13-15: “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How then can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’”

Without Christians going into the world sharing the hope found in Jesus Christ, many will never hear of Him. It is our duty as believers to share this hope with all we come in contact with and those around the world.

God has made us His messengers of peace. He is guiding our paths and directing our ways. He is sending us to share His story with many. Won’t you share this incredible joy with others?
