Grafton Slum
Campaign

Grafton, located in the Western Area Rural District of Sierra Leone, is a community shaped by its history and heritage. As a principal home of the Creole people, it traces its roots to freed African Americans and Afro-Caribbeans who settled here centuries ago.

But beneath this heritage, a serious issue persists…a crisis of clean water scarcity.

Despite Grafton being surrounded by various water sources, the people here still lack access to clean, safe, drinking water. Wells and streams exist, yes, but most are contaminated or unsafe. This disproportionately affects children, the elderly, and wounded veterans…many of whom reside in Grafton’s numerous resettlement camps.

Waterborne diseases, especially among the most vulnerable, continue to rise.

This is not just a health crisis. It’s a social and economic one. Women and children walk miles daily, just to fetch water that might still be unsafe. Traders, who rely on water for their businesses, struggle. And schools and homes go without what should be a basic human right: clean drinking water.

Although Grafton faces many challenges and hope can feel distant for its people, you have the power to make a real and immediate difference. With your support, we can end the clean water crisis and bring the love of Jesus to every family in this community.

Sierra Leone is rich in history, culture, and natural resources. But until communities like Grafton have clean water, we are denying its people the most essential resource of all…life itself.

Water is not a privilege. It is a right. Let’s make sure every family in Grafton has access to it.
