Hi everyone! My name is Emma; you may remember me as one of the two interns from last summer. I served as the social media intern — creating and posting pieces of content on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, as well as writing several blog posts.
My first experience as an intern for The Bucket Ministry was on a mission trip to Honduras at the beginning of summer 2019. This was my second mission trip — my first international mission trip — and I had no idea what to expect.
I was in a new country with a group of people I did not know at all, but within the first couple hours of the trip, I felt more comfortable and excited with the possibilities of the week. Over the course of a week, I grew stronger in my faith, learned how to share it in effective ways with others, and stepped out of my comfort zone in many situations.
Our group was blessed to hand out hundreds of filters, take part in several baptisms, and even help with a wedding! Needless to say, the trip was truly life changing, and that was just the beginning of my summer with The Bucket Ministry.
Over my three months in Texas, I learned a lot about my future profession, The Bucket Ministry and how to reach people effectively. Sometimes it was difficult juggling the numerous responsibilities I had, but overall, it was enjoyable and meaningful to contribute to an organization in this way.
Now, I’m back! At the end of last summer, The Bucket Ministry Director Chris Beth asked if I would be interested in continuing my work with the ministry. Due to my abundance of schoolwork and extracurricular activities, I was unable to accept.
When COVID-19 grew into a pandemic, my school was shut down, and my summer plans became increasingly limited and uncertain. As these circumstances developed, I quickly thought of the offer given by Chris.
After a week of social distancing and school from home, I found myself with plenty of free time and reached out to Chris. He and the team welcomed me back to the organization kindly.
So, here I am; now doing most of the communications for The Bucket Ministry for the foreseeable future. I have learned a lot in the past year that can help me provide even better work for this ministry, and I’m excited about a lot of new things coming to our social media and outreach.
I am so thankful to be able to contribute to a work like this during this time. This is a ministry I’m passionate about, and I hope to share that passion with others. I’d love to talk with anyone about The Bucket Ministry and what we do. I can’t wait to interact with each of our followers and donors throughout this summer.
