Our US team was on an exploratory trip in Kenya in 2017, looking for larger-scale serving opportunities, and needed a driver and guide who knew the area. They were referred to a man named Ronald Rotich. Ronald, beyond working as a personal driver at the time, also owned a milk brokerage and tended to his and his uncle’s farm.
He drove our US team around Kenya for the duration of the trip and, with great enthusiasm and interest, learned about The Bucket Ministry’s mission. There was something very unique and special about Ronald that our team picked up on almost instantly, but they didn’t know how he would fit into the bigger picture of the work just yet.
Realizing this potential, our team offered Ronald a job on our Kenyan team and he accepted. He started as our local driver and guide, but his role would soon explode in scope and importance. After excelling in this position and demonstrating an eagerness to get more involved, he was promoted to a field missionary – conducting filter distributions and in-home follow ups with recipients – and then to Director of Kenyan Field Operations, where he supervised all of TBM’s work throughout the country.
But God wasn’t done with him yet.
Effective today, Ronald serves as the Director of African Missions. He now manages all of our country directors in Africa and identifies new partnership opportunities that could help TBM grow its mission field across the continent. Watching Ronald’s judgment, decisiveness, and leadership instinct mature over the years has made this promotion one of the easiest decisions in our organization’s history.
Ronald said of his and his family’s life before being introduced to TBM: “We were hopeless, living hand to mouth…Our relationship with God was drifting further and further away.” However, today, their “relationship with God is more intimate” and they are “growing closer to Him each and every day as a family”. He also added that his family’s future is “bright and promising when we’re under the umbrella of TBM”.
So please join us in congratulating Ronald Rotich for earning such a key role in The Bucket Ministry, and pray for his continued success!
